Blog Post #10: Data Collection and Blog posts

Data Collection
Data collection and survey use is such an important aspect when it comes to giving feedback on certain aspects of the classroom. I think data collection can be useful anytime student confidentiality becomes a concern. For example, at the end of my science segment for my fifth-grade students, II would like to publish a survey to establish my students understanding of the material before conducting the review at the end of the semester. By conducting an anonymous survey, students will feel confident in explaining their understanding of the subject matter truthfully.

Classmates blogs
One of the most interesting things mentioned in my classmate's blogs as well as being published on voicethread are the Independent Learning Project. The use of voicethread is a new concept that I have learned through this course and I have found to be a more enjoyable way to teach a lesson to your students! I also enjoy the ability to record your voice.

Technology skill
Instead of learning a new skill, I would like to continue to work on Excel. When it comes to Excel, I believe it is a very important tool. The "drag down" as well as being able to calculate the mean, median, and mode would be very useful when inputting student grades.

Comments

  1. Before this course, I had never heard of VoiceThread. I found it useful and can see myself using it if I taught online courses. I like how you can create the timing for each slide with a voice recording.

  2. I also learned a lot from the ILP and had a lot of fun doing it. Our lessons on Excel also taught me a lot of useful things that I can use in the future.

  3. Yes! I loved Excel so much, and I'm so glad that we got to learn more about it. I want to learn more about the formulas and how to create tables.
